THDC India marks 39th Foundation Day; highlights expansion to 3,907 MW capacity

THDC celebrated its 39th Foundation Day on Tuesday, reaffirming its commitment to innovation, sustainable growth and strengthening India's energy security

New Delhi: THDC India Limited (THDCIL) celebrated its 39th Foundation Day on Tuesday, reaffirming its commitment to innovation, sustainable growth and strengthening India's energy security, while highlighting a significant expansion in its generation portfolio with an installed capacity of 3,907 MW.

The Foundation Day was celebrated at the company's corporate office in Rishikesh as well as at its projects and unit offices across the country. The celebrations began with the hoisting of the THDCIL flag by Managing Director Sipan Kumar Garg, who said the occasion was an opportunity to reflect on the company's achievements while renewing its focus on operational excellence, innovation and sustainable development.

Addressing employees, Garg said THDCIL's total installed capacity has increased to 3,907 MW, driven by the commissioning of the 1,000 MW Tehri Variable Speed Pumped Storage Plant and the 1,320 MW Khurja Super Thermal Power Project, which he described as key milestones in the company's growth journey.

He said the company's performance reflects the dedication and collective efforts of its workforce and added that THDCIL is well-positioned to emerge as a leading player in the pumped storage segment while making a stronger contribution to the country's energy security.

As part of the celebrations, the company honoured employees under various categories, including Meritorious Awards, Suggestion Mela Awards, Innovation Awards, Swift Decision-Making Awards, Best Employee, Gaurav Awards and the Naman Award, recognising outstanding performance, innovation and dedicated service.

The Naman Award was conferred on former Director (Finance) J. Behera for his contribution to strengthening THDCIL's financial framework and institutional growth. Chief Technology Officer L. P. Joshi, Executive Director (Projects) Kumar Sharad, Chief General Manager (HR-Admin & Corporate Communications) A. N. Tripathy, along with other senior officials, attended the ceremony.
