New Delhi: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has been recognised as the “Best PSU Partner” under the PM Internship Scheme (PMIS) Recognition of Partner Company Awards by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The award recognises WCL’s leadership, execution and implementation of PMIS. The award was presented by Ministry of Corporate Affairs Secretary Pallavi Jain Govil to WCL Director (Finance & HR) Bikram Ghosh, who received the honour on behalf of the company.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghosh said WCL has offered 150 internship opportunities under the third round of PMIS across key technical disciplines. These include 45 opportunities for Diploma holders in Mining Engineering, 25 for graduates in Mining Engineering and 80 for graduates in Electrical Engineering and ITI Electricians.
He said the initiative is particularly aimed at creating training and career opportunities for youth living in interior coalfield areas, where access to such opportunities is often limited. Through PMIS, WCL is providing young people with industry exposure and opportunities closer to their homes and communities, supporting skill development and self-reliance.

The revised PMIS stipend of Rs 9,000 per month, along with applicable leave, free OPD services and access to subsidised canteens at mines, further supports the learning environment for interns.
Ghosh said the national recognition reflects WCL’s commitment to skill development, youth empowerment and creating an industry-ready workforce by connecting education with practical industry experience.
WCL General Manager (HRD) Manoj Kumar Gupta and Senior Manager (Public Relations) Asheesh Tayal were also present at the award ceremony.
