WCL recommits to workforce safety on Coal Miners’ Day

New Delhi/Nagpur: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) on May 1 observed Coal Miners’ Day with a commemorative function at its headquarters, where senior officials and employees paid homage to the contributions of coal miners.

On the occasion, WCL's Director (Finance) Bikram Ghosh, Director (Human Resources) Hemant Sharad Pande, Chief Vigilance Officer Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, along with members of the Steering Committee, Welfare Board, General Managers, Heads of Departments, officers and employees, offered floral tributes at the Shahid Smarak and the statue of a coal miner.

Marking the day, Ghosh administered a pledge to employees, urging them to remain committed to national interest and to contribute to the organisation’s progress with a focus on safety, discipline and dedication.

Addressing the gathering, Pande extended greetings on Coal Miners’ Day and Maharashtra Day, highlighting the critical role played by the workforce in nation-building. He emphasised that ensuring safety in coal mining operations, promoting skill development and prioritising workers’ welfare remain key focus areas for the company.

Operating Committee Member C. J. Joseph also addressed the gathering and conveyed his greetings on the twin occasions.

The event witnessed large participation from employees across levels, who joined in paying tributes to coal miners and reaffirming their commitment to organisational and national goals.
