New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Nirlep Singh Rai as Director (Technical) of National Fertilizer Limited (NFL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, on Wednesday. Rai has been appointed on the post for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge on or after April 1, till August 31, 2022, i.e. the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) said. He is currently serving as Executive Director in the same organisation. In addition to this, he is also holding additional charge of the chief executive officer (CEO) of Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL).
Earlier, the PSU Watch had reported when Rai had been recommended for the post of Director (Technical) of NFL by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on September 13, 2019.

Nirlep Singh Rai has done his B.E. (Instrumentation and Control) from Thapar University, Patiala, Punjab. He has professional experience of more than 35 years. He took charge of CEO, RFCL on November 1, 2018. Rai has worked in all units of the NFL in various capacities. He has also held the charge of technical services and projects at the Bathinda unit.
Rai has been involved in various projects such as feedstock change over from fuel oil to Natural Gas, commissioning of DCS and ESD systems, Machine Monitoring Systems, Process Gas Analyzers, Fire and Gas Systems etc. His experience includes technical services and operation and maintenance of large scale Fertilizer Plants.
