AK Ghosh assumes charge as new CMD of BVFCL

New Delhi: Ashim Kumar Ghosh has taken charge as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) on October 14. Prior to this assignment, Ghosh was serving as Director (Production) in the same organisation.

Ghosh was recommended by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on May 10, for the post of CMD of BVFCL.

Ghosh is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Durgapur of 1985 batch. He started his career as Junior Executive Trainee (Mechanical) at Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HFCL), Barauni. Later he became Junior Engineer (Mechanical) at HFCL Durgapur. He joined Namrup Fertilizer Unit in March 2003. He worked in HFCL and BVFCL at various capacities in Mechanical discipline before becoming GM (Unit) at BVFCL, Namrup.

Background

Ghosh has over 30 years rich experience, dedicated to the industrial aspects of maintenance, Production planning and operations in Ammonia and Urea plants aiming to the overall improvement of Plants in terms of capacity utilization, energy consumption and profitability. He had played an active role in Namrup Revamp Project and also played a lead role in erection and commissioning of N-II group of plants.

Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited

The Namrup Fertilizer Complex was renamed as Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) after bi-furcation from Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited (HFCL) from April 1, 2002. It is located on the bank of Dilli river in the south-western border of Dibrugarh District in Assam. It is the first factory in India, who use natural gas as basic raw material for producing nitrogenous fertilizer.

VFCL is under the administrative control of Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Department of Fertilizers with 100 percent shareholding by the Government of India.
