New Delhi: Anirban Dasgupta has taken charge as Director, Projects & Business Planning (P&BP), of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on Saturday. Before assuming the current responsibility he was serving as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SAIL's Bhilai Steel Plant. He shall continue to look after the works of CEO of Bhilai Steel Plant until further orders.
Dasgupta is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), BHU, in Metallurgy. He started his career with the Centre for Engineering & Technology (CET) of SAIL in 1986.
During his career in CET, Dasgupta worked in several important areas, which included preparation of feasibility reports and tender specifications of various projects in SAIL, collaborating with M/s Mckinsey & Company for the restructuring of SAIL. Later in September 2010, Dasgupta moved to the Chairman's office at SAIL Corporate Office and served there from October 2010 to 2017.
Dasgupta took over as the CEO, IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) in September 2017. Under his leadership, ISP progressed towards achieving rated capacities. He took charge as CEO of SAIL's Bhilai Steel Plant in June 2019. During his tenure at Bhilai Steel Plant, the major achievements included a growth of 37 percent in the production of prime rails, ramping up of production from various modernisation units etc. He has undergone specialized training programmes in India and abroad and won several awards and recognition for exemplary performance.
