New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's trade union wing, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), has said that it is going to organise a nationwide campaign against the government's decision to disinvest PSUs. An official statement released by BMS said, "In the background of Niti Aayog listing 92 PSUs for disinvestment, a meeting of Public Sector National Co-ordination Committee of BMS was held in Delhi."
The organisation is going to hold a nationwide awareness programme on "Save Public Sector" from September 1-7. As part of the programme, unit-level meetings, dharna, processions etc will be conducted. This will be followed up by a national convention of PSU employees in Delhi on November 15. During the convention, a policy document will be prepared on the role played by PSUs in nation-building, a charter if demands will be released and future agitation programmes will be declared. In order to set the tone for the campaign, BMS will organised industry-wise seminars, a roundtable discussion of trade unions, management and experts during July-August.
BMS will reach out to policy makers and the government at the national level and also contact parliamentarians and other dignitaries as part of mass contact programme, the statement said. The coordination committee meeting was attended by union representatives from BSNL, MTNL, IOC, ONGC, FCI, NTPC, NHPC, and other PSUs.
