New Delhi: State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged an additional order for the installation of an emission control equipment from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (Mahagenco). A statement released by BHEL said that the order is for Mahgenco's ongoing 660 megawatt (MW) coal-based supercritical thermal power project at Unit 6 of Bhusawal thermal power station. The project is being executed on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis at Jalgaon district in Maharashtra.

After securing this order, the new order value of the Bhusawal TPS Unit 6 EPC project is now around Rs 3,750 crore.

"Mahagenco has reposed faith in BHEL by awarding the additional order for installation of emission control equipment, changes in various equipment/subsystems due to change in coal, modification in CHP/AHP, etc," the company said.

The state-owned manufacturer of electrical equipment had won the previous order after a round of stiff international competitive bidding (ICB). After securing this order, the new order value of the Bhusawal TPS Unit 6 EPC project is now around Rs 3,750 crore.

BHEL has, so far, secured orders for providing 34 sets of flue-gas desulphurization (FGD) system for SOx control and 13 sets of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system for NOx control.

The Bhusawal thermal power project win by BHEL involves design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of 1X660 MW supercritical coal-based thermal set and civil works.
