New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited's (BHEL) Director (Finance) Subodh Gupta has been awarded the 'Top Rankers Excellence Award 2020' for best finance professional of the year.

Gupta has been instrumental in revamping the financial systems and procedures in the company and ensuring the best corporate practices. The award was presented to Gupta at the 21st National Management Summit held in New Delhi on Friday.

Background

Subodh Gupta was inducted as BHEL's Director (Finance) on April 18, 2018. Prior to this, he was serving as General Manager at Corporate Finance handling overall financial planning and strategy, treasury management and taxation, besides heading the Finance function of strategic business units under the industry sector. While heading finance functions of various divisions of the company earlier, he has significantly contributed to developing financial strategies and policies for pricing, cost control and profit planning for achieving overall goals of the company. His contribution towards risk assessment and advising its mitigation measures in strategic tie-ups/consortiums and overseas business opportunities is significant. He had been a member of various corporate committees tasked with the simplification of policies and empowerment of business groups to meet market challenges.

Gupta has more than 33 years of diverse experience in the financial operations of BHEL. He is a Commerce (Honours) graduate from University of Delhi and a fellow member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI).

He was also conferred with CMA Achiever's Award – certificate of merit 2016, for his significant contribution to corporate management practices, under the category "PSU Manufacturing-Large" by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI).
