New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has decided to approve regularisation of pay scales of below board level executives in National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), North East Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), THDC India (formerly Tehri Hydro Development Corporation) and Satluj Jal Vidhyut Nigam (SJVN), with effect from January 1, 1997. Close to 5,254 Hydro Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) executives registered before January 2007 will benefit from this, a press release said, adding that the move will "boost the morale" of the executives.

For the regularisation of pay scales, an expenditure of upto Rs 323 crore is expected to be incurred. The proposal was earlier considered by the Committee of Secretaries (CoS) and the Cabinet on several occasion.

"The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its approval for regularisation of pay scales of below board level executives in NHPC, NEEPCO, THDC India Ltd and SJVN, with effect from 01.01.1997 adopted by them consequent upon the orders of the Ministry of Power dated 04.04.2006 and 01.09.2006," the release said.
