New Delhi: The Central Information Commission has directed the Prime Minister Office (PMO) to provide various information about the Code of Conduct applicable to the Ministers.

Lucknow based activist Dr Nutan Thakur had sought information from Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) about information provided by various ministers of the Union Cabinet regarding annual disclosure of property, setting up or joining any business by any member of the Ministers' family, deployment of their wife or dependent, issue of Gift to the Toshakhana for valuation and grant of an award by an organization etc.

The information being available with the PMO, MHA transferred the matter to the PMO but the PMO did not provide the requisite information.

Sudhir Bhargava, Chief Information Commissioner said that no response from the PMO is available on the record of the Commission. In view of this, the Commission directed the Central Public Information Officer (CPIO) of PMO, New Delhi to provide the requisite information to Nutan within four weeks. He also counselled the CPIO of MHA to be more careful in future in transferring RTI applications within the stipulated time.
