CIL helps drain out flood water in Patna

Patna: At least 24 districts of Bihar, including Patna, have been badly affected due to heavy rains that have been lashing the state since last week. Even though the rain has stopped for now, flood water is yet to recede and Patna remains the worst-affected city.

In this scenario, Maharatna PSU Coal India Limited (CIL) has stepped forward to support Patna by providing water pumps, an official release said.

CIL provides 4 powerful pumps to Patna

CIL has rushed four powerful pumps to Patna, which have started draining out water from the low-lying inundated residential areas of Rajendra Nagar, TV Tower and Pataliputra colony.

Two pumps with a pumping capacity of 1,000 gallons of water per minute and two with a pumping capacity of 5,000 gallons of water per minute are pumping out water from inundated areas in the flood-hit Bihar capital which is facing its worst deluge in recent times.

CIL had also extended a support of Rs 50.32 crore to Odisha for the restoration of transmission line which was damaged during Cyclone Fani.
