Coal India’s Director (Technical) B Veera Reddy awarded Ph D

New Delhi: Coal India Limited's (CIL) Director (Technical) B Veera Reddy has been awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph D) Degree by the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, Jharkhand.

Reddy was awarded the Ph D Degree based on his thesis entitled, "Study of Geotechnical factors influencing strata behaviour in Longwall panels of Godavari Valley Coalfield."

Reddy is a Mining Engineer and has done M Tech in Mining Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He has been serving as Director (Technical) of Coal India Limited since February 1. Prior to joining Coal India, he was serving in Eastern Coal Limited (ECL) and had served as General Manager (GM) of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), a government-owned coal mining company, since 1987.

Reddy has more than 34 years of experience in coal mining, planning, procurement and operations. Reddy has rich experience in planning underground coal mines for mechanisation, planning of ventilation, underground water management, spare parts planning for large mechanised underground mines and management of large underground mines.

Reddy has published over 30 technical papers at national and international conferences.
