Delhi Metro is starting out earlier than usual on Lok Sabha Election day

New Delhi: On the day of the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi — which is slated to take place on May 12 (Sunday) — the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is going to start services sooner to ensure that the staff on election duty reach polling booths conveniently and on time. DMRC has said that train services on all lines will start from 04.00 am instead of 06.00 am so that the staff deployed on election duty can avail the facility.

Trains will be available at a gap of 30 minutes

"The trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes on all the Lines till 06.00 AM. After 6.00 AM, Metro trains will run as per the normal Sunday timetable throughout the day," DMRC said.

The exception

Services on all lines except the one connecting Dwarka Sector 21 to Vaishali will begin operation at 04.30 am.

7 constituencies to vote on May 12

All the seven constituencies in Delhi — Chandni Chowk, East Delhi, New Delhi, North East Delhi, North West Delhi (SC), South Delhi and West Delhi — will vote in a single phase on May 12. The counting of votes for the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections will take place on May 23.
