New Delhi: Dillip Kumar Patel has been appointed as Director (HR) of NTPC Limited, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power. The Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment on Friday. Prior to this promotion, Patel was serving as General Manager (HR) in the same PSU.
The name of Patel was recommended for the post of Director (HR) of NTPC Limited by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on September 18. He was selected from a list of nine candidates, who were interviewed by the panel. With this promotion, Patel will replace Saptarshi Roy, who is serving as Director from 2016.
NTPC Limited, formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, is an Indian public sector undertaking engaged in the business of generation of electricity and allied activities. NTPC Limited is India's largest energy conglomerate with roots planted way back in 1975 to accelerate power development in India. It is a company incorporated under the companies act 1956 and is promoted by the government of India. NTPC has established itself as the dominant power major with presence in the entire value chain of the power generation business. From fossil fuels, it has forayed into generating electricity via hydro, nuclear and renewable energy sources.
