Noida: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the much-anticipated metro rail linking the twin-cities of Noida and Greater Noida on January 25, three years since work started. Aqua Line, the new rail corridor, is set to operate between Noida's sector 71 station and the depot station in Greater Noida. The corridor will have 21 stations in total, with 15 stations in Noida and six in Greater Noida.
"Today we dedicate the Noida Greater Noida metro rail to the people of the region. The Aqua Line, which has been completed in record time, will provide better connectivity to the region and prove to be a milestone in the development of the region," Adityanath said.
The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) gave the green light to the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) for launching commercial operations after the final and mandatory safety inspection of the corridor last month.
Over the next year, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will assist the NMRC in running the Aqua Line.
The Aqua line will have stops on sector 76, 101, 81, NSEZ, Noida Sector 83, 137, 142, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148, and Greater Noida's Knowledge Park II, Pari Chowk, Alpha 1, Delta 1, GNIDA Office and Depot metro stations.
Although, the interchange stations of NMRC's Aqua Line and the DMRC's Blue Line are not seamless. The new corridor will also have an interchange station at Noida sector 51-52, from where people can change over to the Blue line, connecting Noida to Dwarka.
