Dr Anindya Sinha set to be next Director (Technical) of NCL

Dr Anindya Sinha, currently serving as Project Advisor in the Coal Ministry, has been recommended for the post of Director (Technical) of NCL

New Delhi: Dr Anindya Sinha is going to be next Director (Technical) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal. The name of Dr Sinha has been recommended by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Friday. He is currently serving as Project Advisor in the Ministry of Coal. He is also on the board of Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) as part-time Director.

Dr Sinha has been recommended for the post of Director (Technical) of NCL from a list of nine candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. A total of two candidates were from Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), two candidates were from NLC India Limited (NLCIL), and others were from Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited and Sainik Mining and Allied Services Limited.

Education & background

Dr Sinha holds a bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering and a Doctorate degree from Poland. He also holds a first-class Mine Manager's certificate of competency to manage coal mines. He has more than 33 years of experience in the Coal sector of India and abroad.

His experience includes around 10 years of operation and management of both UG (underground) and OC (opencast) coal mines of Bharat Cooking Coal Limited (BCCL) & Mahanandi Coalfields Limited (MCL), three years of academic research and development in Coal India Limited (CIL), 20 years in mine planning and design at CMPDI and about 4 months in development policy planning for energy fuels coal & lignite in the Ministry of Coal. Dr Sinha is a recognised qualified person (RQP) of Ministry of Coal for preparation of mining plan/mine closure plan and a QCI-NABET accredited EIA coordinator for preparation of EIA/EMPs. For his contribution to the mining sector, the Institution of Engineers (India) conferred him with "Eminent Engineer Award" in the field of Mining in 2017.
