New Delhi: Prime Minster of India Narendra Modi inaugurated the Manohar International Airport at Mopa, Goa on December 11. Engineers India Limited (EIL) has provided Independent Engineer Services to the government of Goa for this greenfield airport.

Developed at a cost of 2,870 crores, this state-of-the-art airport has adopted some of the best-in-class technologies like 3-D monolithic precast buildings, robomatic hollow precast walls, 5G compatible IT infrastructure etc. The master plan of the airport was also reviewed and approved by EIL through a separate contract earlier in 2017. The currently developed phase-1 of the project will cater to 4.4 million passengers per annum (mppa) which is scalable to cater to 33.0 mppa in the final phases.

EIL has been playing an important role in providing expertise services for these new state of art airports. In the past EIL provided its specialized services in the development of Delhi (T3) airport, Mumbai International airport. Present airport assignments include Leh airport, Jewar Airport at Noida, and Nicobar Airport.

Commenting on this achievement, EIL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Vartika Shukla said, "considering the importance of infrastructure development in the growth of the nation, EIL's focus is not only limited to providing services in the development of infrastructure but also providing value-added services with respect to the development of best-in-class energy efficient and sustainable infrastructure."

She added, "EIL has been associated with the development of world-class technical and strategic infrastructure which includes data centres, internationally acclaimed institutions like IITs, IIMs and key infrastructure projects for various government agencies including RBI, which requires specialized expertise."
