New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Gautam Chandra De as Director (Finance) of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), a Coal India subsidiary company under the Ministry of Coal. According to the order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Chandra has been appointed on the board of Eastern Coalfields for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation, i.e. January 31, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as General Manager (Finance) at Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).

Gautam Chandra De has been appointed on the board of Eastern Coalfields for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation, i.e. January 31, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier

Chandra was recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of ECL by a PESB panel on December 7, 2019. He was selected from the list of nine candidates who were interviewed by the panel.

Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL)

Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) is a coal producer based in India. The company was founded in 1975 after the nationalisation of coal mines in India. It operates coal mines in Jharkhand and West Bengal. It inherited all the private sector coal mines of the Raniganj coalfield. It is one of the fully owned subsidiaries of Coal India Limited. The company has its headquarters in Sanctoria, West Bengal.
