New Delhi: Gautam Chandra De is set to be the new Director (Finance) of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal. His name has been recommended by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Friday. He is currently serving as General Manager (Finance) at Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), also a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal.

Gautam Chandra has been recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of ECL from a list of nine candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. A total of two candidates who were on the list were from Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and others were from South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), Central Coalfields Limited, Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited, Central Coalfields Limited, Coal India Limited (CIL) and Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Limited.

Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) is a coal producer based in India. The company was founded in 1975 after the nationalisation of coal mines in India. It operates coal mines in Jharkhand and West Bengal. It inherited all the private sector coal mines of the Raniganj coalfield. It is one of the fully owned subsidiaries of Coal India Limited. The company has its headquarters in Sanctoria, West Bengal.
