Bhubaneswar: In order to aid the restoration activities in the state of Odisha in the aftermath of the devastating Cyclone 'Fani,' HPCL has come forward to contribute Rs 5 crore. The cheque was handed over to Bishnupada Sethi (IAS), Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Disaster Management and Managing Director of Odisha State Disaster Management Authority by Rakesh Misri, Executive Director — LPG, HPCL on Tuesday at Bhubaneshwar.
Various PSUs have rushed in to support Odisha's restoration work in the aftermath of the cyclone. Earlier, PowerGrid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID) has helped restore power supply and Indian Oil donated Rs 3.2 crore to Chief Minister relief fund in order to meet the immediate requirement of 1000 kl of Kerosene in the state.
Cyclone Fani was the most severe cyclonic storm since the super cyclone of 1999 that claimed 10,000 lives and caused widespread destruction in vast swathes of the state, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Centre (JWTC).
