New Delhi: Running behind the TTE for berths will be a thing of the past as the Indian Railways will make the reservation chart public on the IRCTC Website The seating chart will provide a graphical representation to indicate the seats that are booked, partially booked and vacant. The data will be made available after the first chart is prepared about four hours before the train leaves while the second chart will be available around 30 minutes prior to the train's departure from the originating station.

No need to run after TTE

Changes based on current reservations and any cancellations made after the first chart will be accommodated in the second chart. The new step will help passengers obtain information on any vacant berths that are available in the train following the preparation of the chart, the national transporter says.

The seating chart will have different colours to indicate the seats that are booked, partially booked and vacant, similar to booking an airline ticket.

Feature to be available on both web and mobile

The new feature will be made accessible on both the web and mobile version of the IRCTC e-ticket booking platform. Indian Railways also says that on the basis of the information of seat availability, passengers will be able to approach the TTE on board for ticket booking.

Further, TTEs will not be able to reject berths on an ad-hoc basis.
