New Delhi: As India's renewable energy sector reels under a slowdown, the total installed renewable capacity grew by a meagre 0.9 percent over the last month. At the end of October, India's renewable capacity stood at 83.38 GW, up from 82.58 GW in September, data sourced from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) showed. The ministry spent Rs 2,770.59 crores up to October 31, which is around 52.7 percent of the total budgetary allocation.

The news comes as the BJP government aims to push India's total RE capacity to 175 GW by December 2022. And at the recently concluded United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York in September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi committed to increasing India's RE capacity to 450 GW by 2030 as a part of a stronger climate action plan.
