Mumbai: Former Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of PowerGrid, IS Jha has got the 'Best CEO Award 2019' by Bussiness Today. The award was given by Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan in an event organised in Mumbai. Jha has been adjudged for 3rd time in the row (2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19) for the award in Power Sector. Jha is an electrical engineer from NIT, Jamshedpur. He had also served POWERGRID as Director (Projects). He was on Board of State Transmission utilities of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Governing Board Member of CPRI and Member of Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Forest Manage. Currently, IS Jha is working as a member of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC).
Powergrid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), known as POWERGRID, is a Maharatna PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power. It is state-owned electric utility company headquartered in Gurugram. The company transmits about 50 percent of the total power generated in India through the transmission network. Its former subsidiary company Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO) handles power management for the national grid and all state transmission utilities.
