Jitendra Malik took over as Director (Technical) of NCL

Jitendra Malik has taken over as Director (Technical) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) on Thursday

New Delhi: Jitendra Malik has taken over as Director (Technical) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) at its headquarters in Singrauli. He assumed his charge of the post on Tuesday, NCL said in an official statement. Prior to joining the NCL, Malik was serving as General Manager in BCCL, another subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL). He was selected by the Department of Public Enterprises for the post of Director (Technical) on September 6.

Malik, is a Mining Engineer from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, graduated in the Year 1987. He secured a First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency in 1992. He also holds an MBA (HRM) from Sikkim Manipal University.

The Association of Malik with CIL commenced in 1987 when he started his career at South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) just after graduation. He rendered his services in SECL in various capacities. He had been instrumental in the implementation of the indigenous method of the French blasting Gallery method with cable bolting and remote-controlled SDLs and LHDs.

He joined BCCL after his elevation in 2007 where he served as Nodal Officer, Internal Safety Organization of BCCL, and got hands-on experience in Project Planning and Management. He was promoted to General Manager (Mining) in July 2017 and was entrusted with the big responsibility to head three large areas of BCCL. He also headed the Contract Management Department of BCCL.

Malik holds a vast canvas of experience in operations and management of large Open Cast and Mechanized Underground Mines. He was phenomenal in maintaining the production and safety standards of the mines. He was actively involved in the critical expansion of the Open Cast projects at BCCL.

During his stint as Area General Manager at different places of BCCL, apart from being involved in the key responsibilities of production, productivity, and profitability of the areas, he has also worked towards the up-gradation of the environment and social sustainability.
