Kandikuppa Sreekant Will be the New CMD, PGCIL

Currently working as the director (Finance) at PGCIL, 55-year-old Kandikuppa Sreekant has more than 33 years of experience in the power sector

New Delhi: An in-house name for Power Grid, Kandikuppa Sreekant will be the new Chairman and Managing Director of Power Grid Corporation Of India Ltd. Sreekant is currently working as the Director Finance with PGCIL.

On Wednesday PESB interviewed a total 8 candidates who applied for the post of CMD.  Six of the interviewee were from PGCIL only. PSEB in its final recommendation post interviews sent the name of Kandikuppa Srikant for the post.

In January 2019 PGCIL Chairman, IS Jha, relinquishing the post of CMD had become a member of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). Then Ravi P Singh, director of the state-run transmission utility, had been given the charge of serving as CMD for three months, or till the appointment of a regular incumbent. 55 year old, K. Sreekant (DIN: 06615674) is CMA and PGDM (Finance) from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon. He has also held the charge of Director (Finance) of NTPC briefly for a period of 6 months.

Sreekant has experience of more than three decades in the power sector involving all facets of Finance & Accounting function and in particular, Long Term Financial Planning, Investment Appraisals, formulation of Capital Budgets, Resource Mobilization from domestic and international markets and Corporate Accounts.
