Manoj Jain set to be new CMD of GAIL (India) Limited

New Delhi: Manoj Jain is set to be new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of GAIL (India) Limited, a Maharatna PSU under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Jain's name has been recommended by a PESB panel on Friday. He is currently serving as Director (Business Development) in the same organisation. With his new assignment, Jain will replace Dr Ashutosh Karnatak, who is currently serving as CMD of GAIL (India) Limited, and was appointed on August 1.

Jain has been selected for the post of new CMD of GAIL (India) Limited from the list of eight candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. A total of six candidates including Jain were from GAIL (India) Limited and others were from Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

Background and Achievements

Jain is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate and also completed an MBA in operations management. He possesses rich and diverse experience encompassing more than 32 years with GAIL (India) Limited in the areas of Projects, Operations & Management, Pipeline Integrity Management and Marketing. Prior to his appointed as Director (Business Development), he was serving as Executive Director (Marketing-Gas) in the organisation. Jain also spearheaded the installation and commissioning of the Rs 10,000 Cr grassroots petrochemical complex at Lepetkata Assam, as Chief Operating Officer of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) which has been one of the fastest projects ever implemented in the North East of its size and magnitude.

Earlier, Jain also worked in Operation & Maintenance at the Corporate Level for a number of years. Jain is currently, Chairman of Central UP Gas Limited (CUGL) and Konkan LNG Private Limited (KLPL). He is also Director on the Boards of Indraprastha Gas Limited & GAIL Global Singapore Pte. Limited.
