Manoj Kumar takes over as new CMD of EdCIL

Manoj Kumar, who was serving as Executive Director (Projects) at EdCIL, has taken over as new Chairman and Managing Director of the company

New Delhi: Manoj Kumar has taken over as new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of EdCIL (India) Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Prior to this, Kumar was serving as Executive Director (Projects) in EdCIL, where he was handling major verticals of the company.

Kumar was recommended for the post of CMD of EdCIL by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on May 5. He was selected from a list of five candidates who were interviewed by the panel. With his new appointment, Kumar will replace Diptiman Das, who was serving as CMD of EdCIL since July 24, 2015.

Background

Kumar is an officer from the Indian Engineering Services belonging to the UPSC -1994 batch. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Delhi. He has over two decades of experience in various sectors of the government and PSUs such as DMRC and others.

Educational Consultants India Limited (EdCIL) is a Miniratna PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. It was incorporated as a Public Sector enterprise by the government in 1981. The government has designated Education Consultants of India (Ed.CIL) as the single window agency to facilitate the admission of children of Indian Diaspora and foreign students.
