MV Iyer gets additional charge of GAIL’s CMD post

New Delhi: MV Iyer, who is serving as Director (Business Development) of GAIL (India) Limited, has been given additional charge of GAIL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) post. He has been given additional charge of the post upon Manoj Jain's superannuation on August 31. According to an order issued by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG), Iyer has been appointed to the post for a period of three months with effect from September 1, 2022, or till the appointment of a regular incumbent to the post or until further orders, whichever is the earlier.

Iyer is an Electrical Engineer with 33 years of rich and diverse experience in GAIL in the execution of projects of up to Rs 40,000 crore, including current projects worth Rs 25,000 crore, spanning 16 states, 150 districts and City Gas Distribution (CGD) projects in six cities. He has been serving as Director (Business Development) of GAIL since November 2020. He was given additional charge as Director (Marketing) of GAIL upon ES Ranganathan was apprehended by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection to an alleged bribery case.

Iyer has been part of the core team of GAIL for the implementation of various long-term and short-term strategies. Iyer is also a Director in one of GAIL's new Joint venture companies, Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL), for the implementation of the North East Gas Grid. He has been associated with several non-core business areas like the commissioning of the Dabhol LNG Terminal and implementation of 100 MW Wind power project, 5 MW Solar power projects and current thrust areas of City Gas Distribution (CGD) projects within a short span of one year.
