NHPC net profit goes up by 9.93% in Q2 FY2019-20

New Delhi: State-run hydropower generation company NHPC Limited has registered of 9.93 percent growth in profit in Q2 of the current fiscal FY2019-20. NHPC has reported a standalone net profit at Rs 1,339.46 crores in Q2 as against Rs 1,218.51 crores in the corresponding period in FY2018-19. Profit after Tax (PAT) for H1 is Rs 2,220.60 crores against Rs 1,956.08 crore of the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

Revenue is higher due to better operational

In a statement, NHPC said that the sales for Q2 of the current fiscal FY 2019-20 rose 4.25 percent to Rs 2,605.43 crores, as compared to Rs 2,499.19 crores reported in the year-ago period in FY2018-19. The revenue is also higher mainly due to operational efficiency, operation of 'Kishanganga power station' and revenue from power trading business.

Gross generation of the company was up by 6.58 percent to 17,719 MU for April-September period in comparison to the same period of the previous fiscal.

The NHPC board approved the Q2 FY 2019-20 unaudited financial results in their meeting held on November 11.

Rewind: Q1

NHPC Limited had posted a 19 percent increase in standalone net profit at Rs 881 crore in the first quarter of financial year 2019-20 when compared to Rs 738 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago. The company's gross power generation in Q1 FY 2019-20 surpassed all previous records as it went up by 22 percent to 8,485 Million Units (MU) when compared to the corresponding quarter last financial year. The company previously recorded the highest power generation in 2017 when it produced 8416 MU.
