The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Nilendu Kumar Singh as Director (Technical) of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL)

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Nilendu Kumar Singh as Director (Technical) of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) on Thursday. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Singh has been appointed to the post for a period of five years with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Presently, he is serving as General Manager in South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL).

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Singh had been recommended for the said post by the PESB panel on August 17. He was recommended for the post from a list of seven candidates who were interviewed by the PESB panel.

As Director (Technical) of ECL, Singh will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He will be responsible for the operation of mines and also for field activities, technical functions and the safety of mines.
