New Delhi: After working relentlessly for about eight days to restore normalcy in fuel supplies in the aftermath of Cyclone Fani in Odisha, the state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) have finally operationalised almost all petrol pumps and LPG distribution centres in the three districts that were devastated the most by the cyclone.
In Puri, Khordha and Cuttack districts, a total of 232 out of 234 petrol pumps are functional and all 162 LPG distribution centres in these districts are operational, an official statement said. The two remaining petrol pumps are also expected to start operating in a day. "There is enough (fuel) stock to meet the demand in the affected districts," it said.
The statement said that additional measures have been taken to manage the rush of two-wheelers in Puri as normalcy is restored in Nimapada, Brahmagiri and Satyabadi regions.
The statement said that eight mini fuel tankers have been pressed into service to ensure doorstep delivery of fuel to institutions such as government offices, banks, telecom operators and hospitals for uninterrupted power availability.
In Puri, the current sale of fuel has reached 3 lakh litres per day which is close to normal consumption, the statement said.
