New Delhi: India's Energy Maharatna ONGC has been featured at the 226th rank in the Forbes' list of top 2000 companies. "ONGC has achieved a significant milestone by securing the 226th rank in the prestigious Forbes' "The Global 2000" List for 2023. This recognition exemplifies ONGC's unwavering commitment to excellence and its remarkable growth as a major player across 58 countries", the company said in a statement.

"ONGC takes immense pride in this exceptional achievement, standing as the sole Indian PSU positioned within the top 250 companies on this esteemed list. This notable accomplishment underscores company's consistent expansion, robust financial position, and unwavering dedication to excellence", the statement noted further.

What is Forbes' Global 2000 list?

Forbes' 'The Global 2000' list recognizes the world's largest companies based on key metrics such as sales, profits, assets, and market value. Among the companies that have taken their place in the top 10 are this year’s No. 1, JPMorgan, three giant-sized state-owned Chinese banks and technology giants like Apple and Alphabet. JPMorgan, America’s biggest bank with $3.7 trillion in assets, is at the top of the list for the first time since 2011 and has emerged stronger from this spring’s regional banking crisis, with more deposits and an opportunistic acquisition of the failed First Republic Bank.

Last year’s No. 1, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, fell to No. 338 due to unrealized losses in its investment portfolio.

ONGC's inclusion in this prestigious ranking reaffirms its leading position in India's corporate sector and global recognition. "ONGC remains resolute in its pursuit of excellence, growth, and meeting India's energy needs", the statement concluded.
