New Delhi: The government has fixed the tariff for the Krishna Godavari Basin gas pipeline network at 16.14 rupees per million British thermal units (mmbtu), which is 64 percent lower than the previous tariff, according to an order issued by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).
The tariff finalised by the PNGRB is not just lower than the previous tariff, which stood at Rs 45.32/mmbtu, but is also 66 percent lower than what state-run Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) had proposed.

GAIL had proposed a revision to Rs 47.20/mmbtu for the pipeline network that begins from Krishna Godavari basin in the east coast.
In another order issued by the regulatory authority, the PNGRB fixed tariffs for Jagdishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra pipeline and Hazira-Vijaipur-Jagdishpur pipeline at Rs 63.46/mmbtu and Rs 41.11/mmbtu, respectively. The tariffs in these two cases are on line with what GAIL proposed. The new tariffs are applicable from July 1.
