POWERGRID gets consultancy assignment in Bangladesh

Powergrid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has bagged a consultancy assignment for 'Transmission Planning and Project Preparatory Studies' in Bangladesh

New Delhi/Bangladesh: State-run Maharatna Power PSU Powergrid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), under the Ministry of Power, has bagged a consultancy assignment in Bangladesh for "Transmission Planning and Project Preparatory Studies." The power PSU has won the contract in stiff competition with major international consultants like Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) Japan, Centro Elettrotecnico Sperimentale Italiano (CESI) Italy, Tractable Belgium, Mott MacDonald UK and Poyry Switzerland.

The contract for consultancy assignment for the above project has been signed by POWERGRID's Executive Director (International Business) Anil Mehra and Rahamat Ullah Mohammad Dastagir, Additional Secretary Power Division, Ministry of Power Energy and Mineral, Government of Bangladesh on Tuesday in Bangladesh. On the occasion, other seniors officials of both countries were also present.

Other consultancy assignments

Earlier to this, POWERGRID had also signed three major consultancy contracts with Nepal Electricity Authority with aggregated consultancy fee of about Rs 45 crore. The projects are funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). These have been bagged under international competitive bidding.

POWERGRID is a state-owned electric utility company headquartered in Gurugram. The company transmits about 50 percent of the total power generated in India through the transmission network. Its former subsidiary company Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO) handles power management for the national grid and all state transmission utilities.
