Pradeep Kumar is new Member (S&T) of Railway Board

Pradeep Kumar has taken over as Member (Signal and Telecom) of Railway Boards, prior to this appointment he was serving as Director General of National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR)

New Delhi: Pradeep Kumar has taken over as Member (Signal and Telecom), Railway Board on October 11. He is also appointed as ex-officio principal secretary (PS) to the government on the same day. Prior to this appointment, he was serving as Director General (DG) of National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR) Vadodara, Gujarat.

Pradeep Kumar is an Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineer (IRSSE) officer of 1981 batch. He had completed his bachelor of engineering (Electronics & Communication) and master of engineering (Communication Systems) from University of Roorkee (IIT Roorkee). He had also completed masters in Business Administration (Marketing and Finance) from Southern Cross University, New South Wales, Australia.

Background

Kumar had joined Northern Railway (NR) in 1983. During his service at NR, Kumar held several important executives and managerial positions on Indian Railways. He has served in Northern Railway, South Eastern Railway, South Central Railway, West Central Railway, Railway Electrification, Railway Board and RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RailTel).

Major assignments

Some of the important assignments during his service include Additional General Manager in West Central Railway, Jabalpur, Chief Safety Officer in South Eastern Railway, Kolkata, Divisional Railway Manager in South Central Railway, Vijayawada, Executive Director (Signal Project) & Director (Telecommunication) in Railway Board, New Delhi, General Manager (Business Development) and Executive Director in RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RailTel), New Delhi.
