Kolkata: Pramod Agrawal (IAS) has taken over as Chairman & Managing Director of the coal giant PSU Coal India Limited as AK Jha attained superannuation on January 31. Agrawal, the new CMD of the world's largest coal producer company was selected for the post by PESB on August 27, 2019. PSU Watch was the first news organisation to break the news. on the day of joining the office, Pramod Agrawal has said that he "will work towards making Coal India a competitive, economically viable business entity, in the changing scenario, with greater emphasis on operational efficiency and lowering the cost of production. Agrawal is an Indian administrative service (IAS) officer of 1991 batch. He has served as Principal Secretary, Public Health Engineering and MD, Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam in the past. Before joining as new CMD of Coal India he was posted as Principal Secretary, Urban Development and Housing and Managing Director, MP Metro Rail Company Limited. He also has held additional charge as PS, science and Tech department.
