Rajendra Prasad Shukla set to be Director (Finance) of WCL

New Delhi: Rajendra Prasad Shukla is set to be Director (Finance) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal. Shukla has been recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of WCL by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Thursday. He is currently serving as General Manager at South Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), also a Miniratna PSU under the Coal Ministry. With his new appointment, Shukla will replace SM Choudhary.

Shukla has been recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of WCL from a list of seven candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. A total of two candidates who were on the list were from Coal India Limited (CIL) and others were from Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) and Siyaram Silk Mills Limited.

Rajendra Prasad Shukla has been recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) on Thursday by a PESB panel. With this appointment, Shukla will replace SM Choudhary, who is currently serving the organisation 

Education & background

Shukla is a Cost Accountant from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI). He also holds a Master's of Business Administration (MBA) degree in International Finance from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). He has a work experience of about 34 years in the mining and metals industry. Over the course of his career, he has handled Indian Taxation, Internal Audit, Cost Management, Cost Control and Financial Accounting.

Western Coalfields Limited (WCL)

Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) is one of the eight subsidiary companies of Coal India Limited (CIL). It has its registered office at Nagpur (MH). WCL has been conferred "Miniratna" status on March 15, 2008. The company has contributed about 6.7 percent of the national coal production during 2014-15. It has mining operations spread over the states of Maharashtra (in Nagpur, Chandrapur and Yeotmal Districts) and Madhya Pradesh (in Betul and Chhindawara Districts). The Company is a major source of coal supplies to the industries located in Western India in the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and also in Southern India in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.
