New Delhi: REC Limited's Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) Sunita Singh has been given a tenure extension for a period of two years. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), the Ministry of Power has approved the proposal for extension of her tenure as CVO, REC Limited for a period of two years till March 16, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Sunita Singh is a 1987 batch Indian Forest Services (IFoS) officer of Maharashtra cadre. She had joined as CVO of REC Limited in March 2017. She had completed Bachelor of Science (B Sc) in Botany from Delhi University and Masters in Forestry from Indra Gandhi National Forest Academy. She also completed Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Forest Water Relationships and Forest Watershed Services from TERI University.
She had been involved in the protection and management of forests, and community-based programs at both policy and implementation level. Apart from that, she had worked for Persons with Disabilities in Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
Sunita was awarded the gold medal for best "Forest Management" by the state government of Maharastra in the year 2000. She also won IDRC Graduate Research Awards on climate change and water for her PhD research.
REC Limited, formerly Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, is a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of power. The company finances and promotes rural electrification projects across India. The company provides loans to Central and State Sector Power Utilities, State Electricity Boards, Rural Electric Cooperatives, NGOs and Private Power Developers.
