S Bharathan takes over as Director (Refineries) of HPCL

S Bharathan has wide exposure to the Refinery Operations and has worked in the Operations and Technical Departments of Mumbai and Visakh Refinery

Mumbai: S Bharathan has taken over as Director – Refineries of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), a Maharatna Company, on October 1, 2022. Prior to taking over as Director – Refineries, Shri S. Bharathan was serving as Executive Director – Refineries Coordination with Additional Charge of R&D. He had been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel this year only on June 17, 2022.

S Bharathan has wide exposure to the Refinery Operations of the Company and has worked in the Operations and Technical Departments of Mumbai and Visakh Refinery for over 25 years. He has also worked in the Corporate Office on Margin Management & Refinery Project Process for over 4 years. Further, he is also leading HPCL's Green R&D Centre (HPGRDC) in Bengaluru for the last 3 years. Under him, HPGRDC has reached the filing of about 380 patents.

As Director (Refineries) of HPCL, Bharathan will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD). He will head the various business units in the refining sector and will be responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable operation of refineries and for meeting the product requirements of the corporation's marketing operations. He will also be responsible for developing short-term and long-term plans for enhancing the productivity of the refineries and ensuring their implementation.
