New Delhi: S Das has been appointed as Director (Finance) of Balmer Lawrie & Company Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment on January 14. Prior to this promotion, he was serving as General Manager (Finance) in the same organisation. "S Das has been appointed Director (Finance) with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post on or after April 1, 2020, till the date of his superannuation i.e. December 31, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier," said an order from DOPT.
Earlier, the PSU Watch had reported that Das was recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of Balmer Lawrie & Company Limited by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on October 15. He was selected from a list of six candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.
Das is Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) of the Institute of Charted Accountants of India of 1989 batch. He had completed his bachelor of commerce (B. Com) from St Xavier's College, Kolkata.
Balmer Lawrie & Company Limited operates in a diverse range of business areas as a manufacturer and service provider. The Company produces industrial packaging products, greases and lubricants, performance chemicals and marine freight containers. Services include tea exporting and trading, project engineering and consultancy and travel, tours and cargo.
