S Das appointed as Director (Finance) of Balmer Lawrie

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of S Das as Director (Finance) of Balmer Lawrie on Tuesday

New Delhi: S Das has been appointed as Director (Finance) of Balmer Lawrie & Company Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment on January 14. Prior to this promotion, he was serving as General Manager (Finance) in the same organisation. "S Das has been appointed Director (Finance) with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post on or after April 1, 2020, till the date of his superannuation i.e. December 31, 2022, or until further orders, whichever is earlier," said an order from DOPT.

Earlier, the PSU Watch had reported that Das was recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of Balmer Lawrie & Company Limited by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on October 15. He was selected from a list of six candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Education & background

Das is Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) of the Institute of Charted Accountants of India of 1989 batch. He had completed his bachelor of commerce (B. Com) from St Xavier's College, Kolkata.
