S Krishnan appointed as Director (Operations) of CPCL

S Krishnan, who was working as Chief General Manager in CPCL, has been appointed as Director (Operations) of the organisation

New Delhi: S Krishnan has been appointed as Director (Operations) of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), a group company of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). He has been appointed on CPCL board with effect from March 1. Prior to this, he was serving as Chief General Manager (Maintenance) in the same organisation. The information has been shared by the CPCL in a regulatory to the stock exchange on March 1. Krishnan was recommended for the post of Director (Operations) by a PESB panel in August 2019. He was selected for the post from a list of five candidates, who were interviewed by the panel. With his new appointment, Krishnan has replaced G Aravindan who retired from the services of the company on attending the age of superannuation on February 29.

Education & background

Krishnan holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from ACCET, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu. He had joined CPCL in 1985. He has got more than three decades of experience in various functional areas of the Refinery.

The company was formed as a joint venture in 1965 between the government, AMOCO and National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), having a shareholding in the ratio 74 percent: 13 percent: 13 percent respectively. From the grassroots stage, CPCL Refinery was set up with an installed capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per year in a record time of 27 months at a cost of Rs. 430 million without any time or cost overrun.
