Sandip Das assumes charge as Director (Finance) of Balmer Lawrie

Sandip Das has assumed charge as Director (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Balmer Lawrie & Company Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas

New Delhi: Sandip Das has assumed charge as Director (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Balmer Lawrie & Company Limited, a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Friday. Prior to this appointment, Das was serving as Senior Vice President (Finance) in the same organisation. "Sandip Das has been appointed as an Additional Director with the designation of Director (Finance) of Balmer Lawrie & Company Limited, with effect from 1st May, 2020 upto the date of the next annual general meeting of the company," the company said in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Friday.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Das was recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of Balmer Lawrie by a PESB panel on October 15, 2019. He was selected from a list of six candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel. A total of two candidates who were on the list were from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and others were from Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), Lawrie & Company Limited and MSTC Limited.

Das' education

Das is an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) of the Institute of Charted Accountants of India of 1989 batch. He holds a B Com degree from St Xavier's College, Kolkata. He is a seasoned professional with more than 30 years of experience, he had worked in core business areas in both manufacturing and services and the Corporate Finance function, during his tenure at Balmer Lawrie.
