SJVN CMD flags off component of second Unit of Buxar Thermal Power Project

The first Unit of Buxar Thermal Power Project is scheduled to be commissioned in June 2023 and the second Unit in December 2023

Shimla/ New Delhi: SJVN Chairman & Managing Director Nand Lal Sharma virtually flagged off a critical component Generator Stator of the Second Unit of 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project from L&T Hazira Plant in Gujarat to the Project site. Director (Electrical) Sushil Kumar Sharma, CEO (STPL) Manoj Kumar along with Project Team also joined the flagging off virtually.

Sharma apprised that in a major step towards commissioning of the Buxar Project, the dispatch of the Generator Stator of the second Unit will help in achieving the targeted commissioning of the second Unit within the scheduled timelines. The first Unit is scheduled to be commissioned in June 2023 and the second Unit in December 2023.

SJVN CMD mentioned this is the heaviest component of the Thermal Project weighing 379 MT and has been manufactured with State of Art Japanese technology. He further stated that adopting the unique mode of transportation, Generator Stator will be transported to the Project site by river/sea route and will travel around 2350 Nautical miles through Arabian sea-Bay of Bengal and ultimately through River Ganga to reach Buxar site by Barge and multimodal transport.

The CMD congratulated SJVNites and praised their efforts towards carrying out the project activities in a time-bound manner against all odds. The works of the Project are being executed by STPL, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited.

SJVN currently has a portfolio of around 42000 MW & such initiatives will enable SJVN in achieving its Shared Vision of generating 5000 MW by 2023, 25000 MW by 2030, and 50000 MW by 2040 to meet the company's short-medium-long term objectives.
