SN Tiwari takes over as Director (Marketing) of CIL

Satyendra Nath Tiwari, who was serving as General Manager, has taken over as Director (Marketing) of Coal India Limited (CIL)

Kolkata:  Satyendra Nath Tiwari has assumed charge as Director (Marketing) of Coal India Limited (CIL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Coal. Prior to this, Tiwari was serving as General Manager at the same organisation. With his new charge, Tiwari will replace Shyam Nandan Prasad, who was serving in the same position in the Maharatan PSU. Tiwari was recommended for the post of Director (Marketing) of CIL by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on July 17. He was selected from a list of eight candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Carrer & Background

Tiwari is a B Sc Engineering graduate with 1st class distinction from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (BIT Mesra). He also holds an MBA degree, with a specialisation in Marketing, from BIT MESRA. Tiwari has a rich and vast experience of over 33 years in marketing and sales. He has worked in various capacities since 1986 in Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) and Northern Coalfields Limited (NLC) before joining Coal India Limited as General Manager (Marketing & Sales) in 1992.

Coal India Limited (CIL) is a state-controlled coal mining and refinery company headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal. CIL is the largest coal-producing company in the world and a Maharatna PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Coal. The company contributes around 82 percent of coal production in India. CIL ranks 8th among the top 20 firms contributing a third of all global carbon emissions.
