Sridhar Patra appointed as CMD of NALCO

Sridhar Patra, who was serving as Director (Finance) of NALCO, has been appointed as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of the Navratna PSU

New Delhi: Sridhar Patra has been appointed as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of National Aluminium Company (NALCO), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Mines. The Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment on Monday. "He will serve as CMD of NALCO till the date of his superannuation i.e. October 31, 2024, or until the further orders whichever is earlier," the order from ACC said. Prior to this elevation he was serving as the Director (Finance) in the same organisation. He was also holding the additional charge of CMD since December 1.

Patra was recommended for the post of CMD by a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on August 14. He was selected from the list of four candidates who were interviewed by the selection panel.

Education & Background

Patra is a Commerce graduate from Utkal University, Odisha. He is a Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Patra also did MBA in Human Resource Development from Vidya Sagar University and has contributed as an academician apart from his professional employment in PSUs.

Prior to joining NALCO, he was serving in THDC India Limited as the Director (Finance). Patra comes with a rich and varied experience of over 30 years covering various Public Sector Undertakings like Odisha Mining Corporation Ltd., Indian Rare Earths Ltd. and Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited.
