POWERGRID gets a new Director (Personnel)

New Delhi: Vinod Kumar Singh is set to be new Director (Personnel) POWERGRID Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Power. Singh's name has been recommended for the post of Director (Personnel) POWERGRID by a Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) panel on Wednesday. He is currently serving as Senior General Manager in the same organisation.

Singh has been selected from the list of nine candidates who were interviewed in the selection meeting. A total of six candidates who were on the list were from the POWERGRID and others were from the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil), NHPC Limited and Indian Telecommunication Service (ITS). Vinod has a Master's degree in Human Resources Management from Xavier Institute of Social Service. Joined in October 1985 he has more than 34 years working experience with the POWERGRID. Prior to joining as Senior General Manager, he was serving as Additional General Manager in the company.

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited

POWERGRID is an Indian state-owned electric utility company headquartered in Gurugram. The company transmits about 50 percent of the total power generated in India on through transmission network. Its former subsidiary company, Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO) handles power management for National grid and all state transmission utilities. POWERGRID also operates a telecom business under the name POWERTEL. It was incorporated on October 23, 1989, under the Companies Act 1956 with an authorised share capital of Rs 5,000 crore and subsequently, it enhanced to Rs 10,000 crore in the financial year 2007-08, as a public limited company, wholly owned by the Government of India.
