New Delhi: Dr Guruprasad Mohapatra, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Airports Authority of India (AAI), inaugurated the Specialised Maintenance Unit (SMU) for in-country repairing of ELDIS Radars in the presence of the ambassador of Czech Republic, Milan Hovorka, on Monday. This facility will help in reducing the turnaround time (TAT) in the repair of unserviceable modules of radars.

This will reduce the downtime of the important surveillance facility of the Indian air space.  More than 80 percent of the Indian air space is under the coverage of radars. The SMU has been provided with a customised repair facility from M/s ELDIS along with required manpower training, documentation and hardware/software tools at a total cost of around Rs 30 crores. AAI and ELDIS together are looking forward to turn this unit into the repair and maintenance centre of Radars of ELDIS make in the Asia-Pacific region.
