Akshay Kumar Singh is new CMD of Petronet LNG Ltd

The Board of Directors of Petronet LNG Ltd has chosen Akshay Kumar Singh as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Petronet LNG Ltd

New Delhi: The Board of Directors of Petronet LNG Ltd has chosen Akshay Kumar Singh as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Petronet LNG Ltd. After the conclusion of a board meeting on Wednesday, Petronet LNG said, "The board of directors of PLL has selected Shri Akshay Kumar Singh for the post of MD&CEO, PLL in its board meeting held on 04th November 2020." Singh will take the charge of the post from Vinod Kumar Mishra, Director (Finance) of Petronet LNG, who had been holding additional charge of the CMD's post after the superannuation of former CMD Prabhat Singh.

Akshay Kumar Singh's career & background

Singh is a Mechanical Engineer from MIT, Muzaffarpur and a post graduate in Turbo Machinery from South Gujarat University. He has more than three decades of experience and possesses extensive domain knowledge and has made significant contributions in Petroleum and Natural Gas Sector. Prior to joining the Indian Oil Board, he was an Executive Director in GAIL. 

He has vast experience in executing the challenging, complex and large-size cross country pipeline network of national importance. He has extensive experience in the field of design engineering, planning, execution and O&M of hydrocarbon cross country pipeline system and process plants. Singh is also the Non-Executive Director of IHB Private Limited, Joint Venture Company of Indian Oil.

Petronet LNG Ltd

With equity participation from four Oil and Gas Maharatanas — Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), GAIL (India) Limited (GAIL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) — Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) formed on April 2, 1998 as Joint Venture Company (JVC). It has set up the country's first LNG receiving and regasification terminal at Dahej, Gujarat with present nominal capacity of 17.5 MMTPA and another terminal at Kochi, Kerala having a nominal capacity of 5 MMTPA.
