Amrit Mahotsav: Power Grid commissions 400 kV Pavagada-Devanahalli transmission line in Karnataka

Power Grid has dedicated its 400 kV Pavagada-Devanahalli Transmission Line to the nation as part of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations

New Delhi: Power Grid has dedicated its 400 kV Pavagada-Devanahalli Transmission Line to the nation as part of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. The 400 kV D/c (Quad) Pavagada-Devanhalli line, Phase-II (Part-B) Transmission system for UMSPP at Tumkur (Pavagada), under Southern Region-II in Karnataka, was dedicated to the nation on April 2. This line will enable the delivery of power to Bengaluru city from renewable energy sources at Pavagada Ultra Mega Solar Power Park in Karnataka.

The 400 kV D/c Pavagada-Devanhalli line shall interconnect Bengaluru city and relieve loading on other transmission lines connected to load centres at Hoody, Neelmangla, Bidadi and Somanhalli. Therefore, the transmission line has enhanced the reliability of power supply to the city.

PowerGrid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), is a 'Maharatna' Enterprise under the Ministry of Power. With the use of state-of-the-art maintenance techniques, automation and digitisation, PowerGrid has been maintaining average transmission system availability above 99percent. As on August 31, the total transmission assets of POWERGRID and its subsidiaries stood at 164,511 ckm of transmission lines, 249 sub-stations and more than 414,774 MVA of transformation capacity.
